A Few Things // Volume 04
A quick rundown of what I am wearing, buying, reading, watching, and more!
Hello from Maine!
I hope everyone has a nice short workweek and a lovely upcoming 4th of July weekend. I am popping into your inbox quickly to share a few things I have been wearing, buying, listening to, and more!
On Thursday, I will be back in your inbox with a new podcast episode!
xo Nan
WEARING:
Easy tank-top-style dresses like this one in black and this one in brown.
Once it starts to get warm, I love to throw on a comfortable dress and not have to think about too much.
Sizing: this brand typically runs big; I sized down to a Large in both of these dresses (vs my usual XL). *gifted
All summer long, you can find me in these simple flip-flops that have been my go-to for years!
I feel like a lot of people are posting about ‘jelly’ flip-flops as of late, but I don’t think those are for me... I feel pretty set with my old-school, classic pair for day-to-day. And then I can reach for a fancier leather flat sandal when I want to be a bit more dressy.
I am trying to lean into playing more golf and tennis this summer.
It is still TBD if I succeed with this goal…I am off to play golf today, so one day down.
This means that I have been on the hunt for a few great athletic skirts (which has proved difficult, as most athletic skirts end up being too short on my 5’11 frame).
I ordered 5+ different skirts from various brands to try, and my favorites ended up being:
this A-Line Style in 19-inch length (I bought this in white and navy in size XL)
this skort with pockets that is 17 inches long (again I bought it in my true size XL in white)
this pleated knee-length skirt also fit and felt long enough, but, candidly, I was confused about how the pleats would look after lots of wear and washing…so I decided to return it.
BUYING:
I forgot my Camp Snap screen-free digital camera in New York, so I ordered another one - because in the end it might be nice to have one to live in New York and another here in Maine.
I am hoping that once the camera arrives I can leave my cell phone at home more often and just bring the camera along with me (as a way to have a bit less screen time!)

I bought this UPF 50+ Sunwear Bandanna in the red block print pattern from the cute new brand Sevy.
I am always anxious about getting too much sun (especially on my neck & chest), so I am hoping this will be a helpful summer accessory!
Also, the founder, Mary Mullen, just seems so beyond cute, and I was simply excited to support her new business.
I tried to pack all my favorite go-to beauty products for my summer in Maine… but then I got here and realized I’d forgotten a few things…! Woops.
I quickly placed rush orders for:
my favorite concealer makeup brush
my favorite liquid blush
my favorite powder bronzer
RETURNING
I have not returned anything this week…
Last week before I got up to Maine, I returned this ivory cardigan; it was pretty and soft, but it just did not feel overly special or like something I really needed.
I bought that cardigan while I was panic-ordering long-sleeve tops to wear for podcast recordings — at the same time, I also bought this navy blouse (size XL) and this simple white long-sleeve (size XL.) Both of those items were winners, so I kept them and returned the cardigan.
I also returned this pleated workout skirt (as I mentioned above)
READING:
I finished reading Whistler by Ann Patchett this week.
I can’t say it was my favorite book ever, but I enjoyed it; it was one of those happy-sad stories that warmed your heart.
Now I am reading Mother Mary Comes to Me per the suggestion of Michelle and Adair.
I love that a fun added bonus of Noteworthy With Nan is having easy access to book recommendations from our guests.
WATCHING:
I think I am in a bit of a TV rut…
I feel like I haven’t loved or really watched a show in a few weeks…
Maybe the last show I was really into was Off Campus. Or also Summer House.
Anyone have a TV show they are loving at the moment?
LISTENING:
If you are a content creator or use ShopMy, I also found this episode from Victoria Smith’s podcast, Fashion & Founders, to be a worthwhile listen.
As always, I am listening to the Pop Apologists gals! I pay for their Patreon, so I love that it means I get two new episodes a week.
I also enjoyed this podcast episode with Meg Hall where she chatted about the ins and outs of her busy life as a VP at a global company, her work as an influencer/creator, and her life as a mom of three. I really appreciate and respect Meg’s honesty and candor.
ADDING TO MY WISHLIST:
I really don’t need any more beach coverups, but I love the simplicity of this white greek key dress in a nice, longer length (so many coverups feel so short and itty bitty!)
I keep thinking about this chic raffia-and-green-leather bag that I came across the other week. I went to see it in person and can report that it is just as beautiful as I expected. I haven’t splurged on it yet but I am oh so tempted..!
On the green front, I also keep getting drawn to peridot pendants like this one I found on Instagram from a (new-to-me) jewelry brand called Whim.
I am also loving the idea of a Lariat-Style Chain Necklace; doesn’t it feel so chic and pretty?! And just different than the other gold chains I already own.
And I love that you could swap around the charms you wear on it. I already own this pearl charm and this diamond circle charm from the same brand.
Summer = the season of sun hats.
Right now my go-to is this classic one from Janessa Leoné that I have worn for years and years.
But I am thinking I might want another hat or two… this bucket style and this wide-brimmed style are my two top contenders for what I might order.

That dress on you is STUNNING!
Glad you enjoyed the ShopMy Podcast episode!
