Mother’s Day is around the corner (mark your calendar for Sunday, May 12th.)
It feels like the correct time for us to make plans and determine what we might send to our own moms or any other mom figures in our life.
It always makes me laugh a bit or feel a bit out of place when I share Mother’s Day gifts, because I am not a mother…therefore, I don’t know for certain exactly what a mom might want. BUT I do love to give thoughtful gifts so hopefully these recommendations might be helpful nonetheless!
Below you will find more then ten gift ideas covering a wide price range (from under $50 to larger splurges!) In addition to these ideas, you can find even more options here!
Life in The Garden by Bunny Williams - $40. I went to a talk last week where Bunny Williams, the acclaimed interior designer, spoke about her new book and her beautiful garden at her home in Connecticut. This book would make a lovely gift for any woman who loves to garden or simply anyone who loves beautiful images of flowers. Page after page is filled with stunning images of her garden throughout the years and seasons plus countless tips (such as her favorite flower and vegetable varieties.)
Lip Glorifier in Red from Clé de Peau - $47. I love this lip gloss! It is perfect for a mom who doesn’t wear much makeup but wants a little touch of color. This red hue looks bold at first but on your lips it is just a perfect pretty hue.
Olive Tree Candle from Flamingo Estate - $58. I just bought this candle the other day after I loved the scent of a West Village shop where it was burning. I have been lighting this in my kitchen while I do the dishes and it is a perfect fresh spring scent.
Fresh Flowers - $80+. Flowers might not be the most original gift but they are sure to bring a smile to any woman’s face. Of course, the best option here is to call your local florist. In Boston I love Winston Flowers and in New York I like Plaza Flowers (uptown) or Casey’s Flowers (downtown.) For a national delivery service, I love FlowerBx! I have used their service one multiple occasions for myself and others and their flowers are always beautiful!
Alice Seersucker Nightgown from Lake Pajamas - $98. This is the PERFECT summer nightgown! It is lightweight but so cute in the blue and white seersucker. I feel like this could be a great git for a young mom! (I should order this for my sister-in-law!)
Crown Affair Hair Bundle $100+. We know I love all things Crown Affair for my hair needs! And I love to gift a bundle of three products to friends (or my mom!) I always say the best gifts are elevated everyday items - your mom might not want to justify spending a bit more on a beautiful tortoise comb but in the end I’m sure she would love it as a gift. My recommendations are the Hair Towel, Dry Shampoo and Clips.
Liberty Print Cosmetic Case via Nordstrom - $174. Who does not love a beautiful Liberty Print fabric?! With the ‘LOVE’ embroidery this could make such a cute Mother’s Day Gift.
Mary Jane Flats from Rothy’s - $159. I just ordered these shoes for myself the other day after hearing people rave about them for years! And I think I might need to convince my mom she needs a pair also (as she is always looking for comfortable travel shoes.) I love that this shoe blends both style and comfort (see this review from
about how she comfortably wore them throughout a trip to Florence, Italy.)Ceramic Berry Bowls from Pencil & Paper x Mackenzie-Childs - $199. How sweet are these blue and green bowls? They would be the perfect gift for the mom who loves to entertain!
Pampering! Massage, Facial, Etc. - $200+. Every mother deserves a little extra pampering! So a great gift might be to call her local spa and get her a gifted massage or facial. In New York, I love a massage at Rescue Spa or facial at The Brightwood.
Vienna Maxi Dress from MIRTH - $275+. This is one of my favorite summer dresses! It is a piece that looks good on anyone, no matter their size and it is just so comfortable. My own Mom has stollen a few of mine to keep in her own closet she loves them so much. (For sizing, this dress is quite flexible due to the loose shape, so I would just order your mom’s true size.)
Woven Basket Tote from Underwater Weaving - $308. How beautiful is this basket? It would be great decorative item for anyone’s home or to use as a chic purse. I love this as a Mother’s Day gift because the baskets are handwoven by a mother-daughter duo, Erin and Peggy. (I went to a basket weaving class led by Erin last week and it was so much fun!)
The Cashmere Crewneck from Alice Walk - $350. Another example of an elevated everyday piece is this lovely cashmere sweater. My mom is not great on splurging for herself so I love to take an opportunity like Mother’s Day to treat her to something luxurious like a Cashmere Sweater. (*The cut of this sweater is oversized, so I would order you / your Mom’s true size. I wear the XL.)
Gold Jewelry from Fewer Finer - $600+. Of course, I don’t know any woman who doesn’t love receiving beautiful jewelry as a gift! I would suggest something that is 14k or 18k gold so she could wear the piece 24/7 - perhaps a pinky ring ($600+) or a pair of everyday earrings ($1,600+)
As always, you can find even more gift ideas over on my blog.
I hope one of these gift ideas might be a great fit but of course I am sure a handwritten note or phone call might be just as lovely!
Until next time, xo Nan
