Outfit Details: From Summer to Fall
Six outfits I wore this summer and plan to re-wear during these early fall days (because it's not exactly jacket weather yet)
If you are like me, you are EXCITED about fall and what that means for your wardrobe. To me, autumn is the best time of year in terms of getting dressed. I love the rich colors, suede and corduroy, being able to wear layers…all of it.
However, as much as we might be ready for fall, most of us still have a few weeks (or months) until it will be chilly enough to break out our cashmere sweaters and jackets. So, what are we wearing in the meantime?
I personally plan to re-wear outfits that I already have in my closet. I’m not sure if it’s just me or if we all feel this way, but I’m a bit overloaded with the idea of buying all these new things for fall. Yes, I love to shop (we know that!) and have already purchased some items for the upcoming season (and am sure will buy one-off things here and there). But I am really trying to remind myself that entering a new season doesn’t necessitate buying a whole new wardrobe.
And so, I thought I would share six outfits that I wore this past summer and I plan to re-wear again during the early fall days, when it’s still warm out but we’re dreaming of cooler temps.
OUTFIT ONE: Black dress* (if between sizes, size down), a slip under the dress, similar block heels, and a woven purse.
OUTFIT TWO: Block print maxi dress (true to size) and leather sandals (resale version here).
OUTFIT THREE: Black t-shirt, tan jeans* (true to size but they have no stretch, so size up if between sizes), black/grey Chanel flats (similar here in size 37), green woven bag, vintage necklaces and white heart charm.
OUTFIT FOUR: Old black tank (this is similar), wide-leg drawstring jeans (true to size), leather sandals (true to size), and small brown suede purse.
As we look ahead to autumn, if feels like an odd time to mention sandals BUT as you might have noticed, I’m wearing them in many of these outfits. You can find more details on the sandals pictured and why I love them in this post.
OUTFIT FIVE: Black t-Shirt dress (if you’re between sizes, size down), rattan leather belt* (if you want to wear on your waist, size down), green woven purse, gold link bracelet, and black leather sandals (resale options here).
OUTFIT SIX: Grey t-shirt* (runs a tad big), brown striped long-sleeve shirt (runs big, size down), blue linen pants* (runs a tad big, don’t size up), old pearl and gold necklace (but this and this are similar newer styles from the same brand).
As a reminder, you can shop all my outfits on my ShopMy page.
With Labor Day weekend around the corner, we are in the midst of a busy sale season. As always, a lot of it is just noise but I do think there are some good bargains to be had (especially if something was already on your wishlist). Here is a round-up of all my favorite sales, which hopefully makes shopping a bit simpler for you. (I will continue to keep that sale page updated throughout the weekend!)
Thanks so much for being here! xo Nan
P.S. For all my American readers (which I think are most of you) the November elections are less than 70 days away. It is a great time to visit Vote.gov to check your voter registration status and/or register to vote.
I just finished stitching this needlepoint Vote Pin. The design is by and can be purchased from Island House Needlepoint.
Always a joy to see your writings, and this one particularly made my heart smile! Thank you for being you <3
