Before we dive in, I want to note the terrible fires happening in the LA area. It is all just beyond heartbreaking. I have (and will continue to) share resources and ways to help from afar over on Instagram (see my dedicated highlight here.) If you are reading this and have been personally affected by the fires, my heart goes out to you!
As I ease back into sharing my regular content on Instagram, I wanted to pop over here to Substack and share a few things that are on my radar - from wardrobe favorites to a beauty product and more! I always enjoy reading quick round ups from fellow Substack writers and I hope you all might enjoy it as well.
I am also working on a upcoming post about my favorite personalized stationery as well as interview series that I am excited to launch. So more to come soon! One of my goals for 2025 is to share content more regularly here on Substack. Fingers crossed I can make it happen!
Until next time! xo Nan
ON MY RADAR
FASHION: A great classic tank top!
If you are like me and are willing to splurge on wardrobe basics then you might love this perfect ribbed tank top. I have been reaching for mine a lot while I am down in Florida (I am wearing it right now as I write this.) The tank is the perfect base layer to then add on a light sweater or sweatshirt for simple days around the house. The fabric is just as thick and luxe as you would hope and I have found mind stands up well to washes and wear.
TV: A new hospital show!
I started watching The Pitt on HBO Max and really enjoyed it. If you like any type of hospital / ER type show you will probably enjoy it.
BOOKS: keep track of what you read on a (new to me) app.
I like to track what books I read throughout the year (otherwise, the stories tend to totally slip my mind as soon as I finish the book.) Last year, I used the Good Reads app but transparently, I never loved the interface…
I saw someone mention the Fable app and quickly signed up to give it a try. I have only used it for a week but can already say that I very much prefer Fable to Good Reads.
You can keep track of the books you are reading and want to read, while also writing reviews and following people, getting book ideas, etc. It can also track what TV Shows you are watching, which is fun! It feels somewhat odd to me that you can track TV shows and not Movies, but maybe the Movie element will come in time.
You can follow people on Fable, so here is the link to my page. Candidly, I am not quite sure what following offers but sharing just in case. Maybe we can all explore it / figure it out together! :)
BEAUTY: a SPF stick for on the go!
I am currently down in Florida (where my parents live) and it is letting me live out my suburban dream life - aka I get to enjoy running errands in a car, be amazed by how big the Target is here (Targets in NYC are way to small and just don’t compare) and get a coffee from the Dunkin Donuts drive through. (All these somewhat mundane things feel oh so exciting because they are the exact opposite of life in New York City.)
As I spend more time driving, I am now getting anxious that I will get sun damage on my hands! To combat this, I ordered my favorite Stick Sunscreen for easy application in the car. I find a stick is easier in a car than lotion, because you don’t want your palms to be slippery while driving which seems to happen to me if I need to rub in a lotion.
I also love keep this same Stick Sunscreen in my purse when I am in NYC for quick SPF touch ups when I am out and about. I happily use it on both my face or body.
DECOR:
At my parents house in Florida they tend to always have a colorful tablecloth on their outdoor dining table. I joked with my mom that a few of the tablecloths she rotates through look a little worse for wear (old stains, faded colors, etc.) So she tasked me with finding a few new tablecloths to add to their collection. This week we ordered this green gingham tablecloth from one of my favorite home decor brands.
Beyond loving the green gingham pattern, we were also thrilled to support Heather Taylor Home (a LA based brand) as they are donating 30% of all sales this week to support a wildfire recovery fund.
Other items I own and love from Heather Taylor Home are their tissue box covers, tote bags and pillows.
*Speaking of Tissue Boxes - find more of my favorites in this post.
A FEW MORE THINGS // Sales, Product Launches, Etc.
Ann Mashburn has a great sale right now! They only have a sale like this twice a year and a ton of beautiful items are included. I told my mom that I think she should order this skirt during the sale!
Mirth launched their Resort Collection - I quickly ordered this teal maxi dress.
Lake Pajamas launched new styles - I am always such a fan of their valentine’s day styles.
Shopbop is having one of their great Sale on Sale - get a extra 25% off any items on sale with code: EXTRA25
Margaux launched a new shoe style! It feels so ME! A updated take on their ballet flat with a slight heel.
Hill House launched a new collection, I have not ordered anything (yet!) but have to say, I just LOVE the pink floral print. I wish they had launched it on more products! It would have been so cute on a cosmetic bag or tablecloth.
So enjoy your column. I am most likely a little older than your Mother. I love that you advise her and me too! Our styles are similar - classic with style. A lot of great basic looks which never grow old.
so glad you're back! I love your recs!
