Is it just me, or do you all feel like it has been raining a lot lately? Maybe it just feels that way every year in the middle of spring..?
Maybe I notice it more now that I have a dog and we still need to go for a walk rain or shine. Anyway, my rain gear has been working overtime so I thought I would share my tried and true favorite products for grey, rainy days.
Mosebacke Raincoat from Stutterheim - $325
To me, this is the rain coats of all rain coats! It is heavy duty, warm and very waterproof with a A-line silhouette. The inside is a warm cotton (that almost feels like fleece) making it very cozy — however, it is worth noting that I do find my Stutterheim raincoat too heavy and not breathable enough for a warm day. In the summer or warmer months, I typically opt for my LLBean raincoat (more details below.)
**Note, this jacket runs big so I would consider sizing down.
Travel Umbrella via Amazon - $26.99
I swear by this umbrella, I think I own it in three different colors. I use it all the time in New York City and have even brought it with me while traveling to other cities. It is small enough to fit in your tote bag but not too small that it is flimsy. It also is just well made, it is not the type of cheap umbrella that is going to break the third time you use it.

Meridian Rain Coat from LLBean - $169 (size inclusive!)
As I mentioned above, this black rain coat is my go-to choice for warm spring days and throughout the summer. I love that it is made of a lightweight waterproof material that is thin enough so you don’t get too hot. (Is there anything worse than that sticky feeling of sweating under a rain coat?!) I like that the longer length (it falls above the knee) keeps you more dry and I find the cinched waist to be flattering.
I also love that this raincoat is available in inclusive sizing (from Petite to Plus Size.) I did size up one size, so it would not be too fitted.
Chelsea Rain Boots from Target - $24.99
Candidly, I sort of hate rain boots. I have never found them comfortable and my feet always get hot. Because of this, it has never seemed worth while to pay a lot for a classic rainboot that I would only wear a few times a year. Honestly, I usually just wear sneakers when it is drizzly or a light rain (because I know they will easily dry afterward.) But some days it is really pouring and a waterproof shoe is necessary, this $25 boot has been the perfect solution. I have had these boots for over 2+ years and they are perfect for what I need them to be — a boot I can wear a few times a year.
I find them true to size, not offensive looking and comfortable.
Beadnell Wax Jacket from Barbour - $398
My East Coast, boarding school self is shining through with this product suggestion - but really, a Barbour coat is such a wardrobe staple for me. These jackets last a lifetime - truly - you just need to take good care of them and get them ‘rewaxed’ every few years. I have had a few different Barbour jackets over the years and this Beadnell style is my favorite - it is a bit more fitted and feminine than their classic Bedale style. I reach for this jacket in the spring and summer on days when it is gray, cloudy or lightly drizzling. You could wear it in heavy rain but on those days I typically opt for my Stutterheim coat.
Needlepoint Baseball Hat from Harding Lane - $39.50
A great fitting baseball hat + needlepoint = what is not to love. These are my go-to baseball hats, I love all the various needlepoint icons and the slightly faded coloring of the hats. I also sort of like that these hats are not as much as a conversation starter / advertisement as a branded / logo heavy hat might be.

I’ve had my eye on a Stutterheim and usually just…forget. Until it’s pouring down rain and then I’m like why?!? I just need to buy it. So glad to get your recommendation on one because I didn’t know anyone that had one. Maybe I’ll finally purchase for our next downpour!
I’ve been meaning to try the Stutterheim coats!! I ordered a coat from Rains this past year (maybe Fall?) and wanted to love it but it had the most toxic scent and couldn’t shake it. Stutterheim will be my next try though!
