How many woven or raffia bags are too many?! (Asking for a friend, ha!)
By the time the weather warms up for the summer, the only purses I seem to reach for are my woven or basket style bags. Every summer, I tend to add one or two raffia bags to my collection. Do I own too many? Probably?! But I have always been a bag gal - I just love a great purse!!
So I figured why not share my favorite raffia bags with you all! I own and love three of these chic bags and then the other three are high up on my ‘to buy’ wishlist! If any of you are also on the hunt for a great summer purse, I hope that one of these might catch your eye.

‘Birkin’ Basket from Dans La Main - $140
Is there anything more ‘classic’ as a summer purse than a Birkin style basket?
Small Basket Bag from Ulla Johnson - $250Â (on sale!)Â
I own and love this perfect basket bag. I like that it is woven out of a soft palm leaf, allowing the bag to be flexible so you to easily pack this into your suitcase while you travel.
If you are on the hunt for something a bit more comfortable than a classic neutral - this same bag style is available in a red colorway. (Also on sale!)
Woven Bag with Bamboo Handle from Clare V x Tuckernuck - $215
I love the fun addition of a bamboo handle!
Hammock Mini Raffia Bag from Loewe - $1,750Â
This bag was my SPLURGE of the summer! I bought it in May and have already been using it nonstop, so I am telling myself the ‘cost-per-wear’ will surely be low by the of the summer. Again, the bag is made of a soft and somewhat flexible weave with a sturdy leather base.
I love that there is a top zipper, so I don’t need to worry about anyone grabbing my wallet or anything like that while I am on the subway.
The bag has two different length leather straps, so you can wear it as a shoulder purse or crossbody.
Lunchpail Bag from Cesta Collective - $760Â
Another bag I own and love (can you tell that I just love all things woven?!) Cesta Collective bags are really works of art - they are all made by female artisans in Rwanda, Africa using locally sourced and renewable resources. (It can take over 6 days to weave one bag.)
The bags have a canvas lining and drawstring top so you can keep all your items safe!
Small Woven Tote from Underwater Weaving - $308
I have had one of these Underwater Weaving baskets on my wishlist for a few months now after meeting the lovely founder Erin at an event she had with Lingua Franca. Erin grew up watching her mother weave baskets during her childhood in Maine and today the mother-daughter duo weave all their beautiful pieces.

Everyone needs an Underwater Weaving bag. Such a great conversation piece with the structure and vibe of a designer bag. Plus Erin is someone you feel good about supporting.
